What is the BBQ Cook-Off? When is it? And where does the TIP MONEY go?

The BBQ Cook-Off is March 17th, 18th and 19th. Sixty of the world's finest BBQ teams gather on the Fairgrounds of the Star of Texas Fair and Rodeo and feed STFR visitors. Teams compete in several categories: Brisket, Chicken, Best Southern Hospitality and Most Money Raised. The tip money that visitors place in the teams’ Tip Jars helps support STFR scholarships and other activities. The Tip competition is the fiercest and carries the biggest Bragging Rights for these teams! So come on out, enjoy the best BBQ in Texas and tip generously—it is a good time and the money goes to educate Texas Youth.
